Acting Tips: If You Don't Get The Role
| | | | | | If You Don't Get The Role |
Every actor has been rejected at one point are another.
- Don't Take It Badly.
- As someone who has done casting, I can say that sometimes there are actors that are good and you would like to work with that there just aren't roles for. It's hard to determine who is the best actor for a role based on an audition, and sometimes it's between a few actors and which one gets picked just comes down to the luck of the draw.
- Send A Nice Thank You.
- If you get a reply via email saying that you didn't get a part, I would recommend sending a nice and polite but brief response thanking the casting people for their time and asking that they keep you in mind for casting on future projects.
- From The Point Of View Of A Casting Director...
- Maybe it won't make you feel better, but I can say from personal experience that getting back to actors and telling them that they didn't get the part makes me feel terrible.
Definitely one of the worst parts of the filmmaking process.
- Be nice. Whatever you do, don't send them a nasty message or anything like that, it won't change their mind, and it may come back to haunt you later.
