Here are some tips for actors straight from a casting director / filmmaker. All of these tips are from my own personal experience.

Some of this is going to sound very obvious, but believe me, I've met people that must not have thought it was so obvious.

Most tips boil down to a few simple ideas: show that you are putting in an effort, be professional, be courteous.
